The Equal, Safe and Free fund is a new multi-donor fund, including the UK FCDO and leading private foundations, and will support LGBTI communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands.

A new report by Mama Cash and the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice has found that funding for LBQ organizing has failed to keep pace with the needs and the capacities of LBQ groups.

13 countries in southern Africa are eligible to apply. This funding will support the freedom, equality and social inclusion of social inclusion of homosexual and bisexual women and men, and transgender and intersex people.

Our new grants will go to support the Initiative Sankofa D’Afrique De L’Ouest (ISDAO), a new regional grantmaker, and to Synergia.
