This paper explores the state of corporate accountability in the UK and the use of and potential for legal action to tackle corporate harm.
It was commissioned in 2025 as part of a scoping exercise to determine the future direction of the Strengthening Civil Society programme. Corporate Accountability was then selected by Baring Foundation trustees to be the main focus from 2026 onwards.
