Creating artists in residents: a national arts in care homes participatory and mentoring programme

This evaluation investigated the first phase of the cARTrefu programme, which delivered nearly 2,000 hours of multi-form arts provision to over 1,500 residents in 122 care homes in Wales. A second phase started in 2017. This evaluation found that cARTrefu has had a significant impact on older people’s wellbeing. It has also changed staff attitudes towards residents, especially those with dementia, and gave them more confidence in leading creative activities themselves.
