Invitation to tender for research: mobilising new resources in arts and mental health

We are looking for researcher/s to research and write a practical report on diversifying income for participatory arts organisations working with people with mental health problems.
Arts

The Baring Foundation’s Arts programme is inviting suitably qualified applicants to tender to research and write a practical publication to advise arts organisations on a wide variety of resources they could seek and deploy to run creative activities for people with mental health problems.

We are commissioning this report because we are aware that many of the arts organisations we fund are finding to a greater or lesser degree that they are struggling to match need with demand. Our own resources are very limited, with just over £1 million a year to give across the UK, which we see as a drop in the ocean in terms of need.

However, we are also aware of organisations in this field who are innovating and diversifying income in creative ways.

We are looking for a short report of 5,000 to 10,000 words that documents and shares interesting and successful practice and serve as a source of advice and inspiration for participatory arts organisations working in the field of arts and mental health who want to explore and develop different income streams.

Eligibility to tender: we welcome tenders from any suitably qualified individual/s or organisations. We are looking for a contractor who is good at research and analysis and can write clear, engaging reports that are accessible. We are not looking for an academic or highly technical piece of work.

We expect that the successful candidate will be familiar with arts and health, especially creative mental health, and knowledgeable about resource mobilisation and fundraising.

Payment: we will make available a maximum of £10,000 including VAT and expenses. The Foundation will bear the costs of publication.

Deadline for tenders: 12 noon on 31 October 2025.

For full details of the tender and requirements, please read the Tender Document.

We look forward to hearing from you.
