Sculptor Ron Haselden lights up Brighton with work he created with care home residents

Fabrica, along with Brighton Festival, commissioned Ron as part of its 2016 Spring Festival. The result was ‘Luminary’, a series of lightworks taken from the drawings of older people.

Luminary drew on Ron’s interest in drawings ‘by the untutored hand’, in this case older people from around England, some living in care homes. The drawings were made into giant pieces and displayed inside a darkened church, outside the building and in homes around the Hanover area in Brighton.

This grant by The Baring Foundation to Fabrica was one of 11 in the ‘Late Style’ series, whereby  arts organisations commissioned artists over 70 to create work on the theme of ageing.
